Day After Thanksgiving Blues...
This year was the third Thanksgiving I have not been with my family. I moved here to San Diego two years ago and haven't been able to go home for Thanksgiving because of work and school. I'm from the Bay Area so the price of flying or driving is not worth it for only a couple of days. I live with my boyfriend here and since both of our families are in the bay area we celebrated this year's Thanksgiving just him and me. We had a good time; we cooked, drank beer, watched some football and movies. It was fun. It wasn't until I went to work on Friday and spoke with a coworker about her Thanksgiving with her family that I really missed spending Thanksgiving with my family. I miss my aunt's turkey and stuffing, I miss the desserts my mom makes, I miss the music and dancing and socializing with cousins and family friends. Although I did have fun with my boyfriend, it's just not the same as being surrounded by family. I hope next year we'll be able to go home and have Thanksgiving with our families.
